Thanksgiving -- Día de Gracias -- is not a Mexican holiday, but we promise you a most memorable Thanksgiving in Mexico in the city of eternal springtime, Cuernavaca. Cuernavaca has been a vacation spot for Mexicans since before the Aztecs and remains a prime destination for national and international visitors. In late November, the brightly blooming noche buenas (poinsettias) compete with the ever present bougainvilleas to lend incredible color to the private home compound which houses the participants in this program. You will have almost all your meals there as well. While you will have opportunities to explore and experience Cuernavaca itself, you will also have several exciting excursions. The magical village of Tepoztlán, with its Sunday crafts market, will be our first venture. A visit to the picturesque colonial monument and important silver center of Taxco will occupy another day. A special tour to Mexico City will feature visits to museums associated with the lives and work of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Thanksgiving Day will include a fantastic day at the spa at the beautiful resort, Hacienda de Cocoyoc. The program will conclude with a visit to the archeological site of Xochicalco and a farewell dinner at the Hacienda Vista Hermosa, south of Cuernavaca.
